General
The fo llo w in g dem onstrations are intended to illu stra te
the various types o f stored displays th a t are possible and
the techniques required to o b ta in them .
Slow and Medium Sweep Rates
Repetitive-Sweep Storage. This m ethod o f storage is
used fo r re p e titive w aveform s th a t produce n o rm a lly b rig h t
displays on the C RT screen.
1.
Set up a display o f the PROBE C A L 0.6 V 1 kHz
w aveform in the manner described in "N o rm a l Sweep
D is p la y ".
2. T u rn the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l fu lly counterclockw ise.
3. Press in both STORE bu tto n s. The norm al storage
mode background lig h t level w ill be present on the storage
screens.
4. Advance the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l slo w ly in the c lo c k
wise d ire c tio n to produce a w aveform display of norm al
in te n s ity , then re tu rn the c o n tro l to the m in im u m (co u n te r
clockwise) p o s itio n . A stored w aveform o f moderate b rig h t
ness should rem ain. Each h a lf o f the C RT display area can
be stored o r erased independently. T o erase the stored
display, press in the appropriate ERASE p u shbutton(s).
Single-Sweep Storage. This m ethod is used fo r single
sweep events th a t produce adequate stored displays.
1. Set up a display o f the PROBE C A L 0.6 V 1 kH z
w aveform in the manner described in "N o rm a l Sweep
D is p la y ".
2. Set the Sweep MODE to SING LE SWEEP.
3. Press in b o th STORE bu tto n s.
4.
A p p ly a single sweep o f the trace by pressing the
RESET p u sh b u tto n . A stored display o f the ca lib ra to r
w aveform should remain on the storage screen. If it does
n o t, repeat the d e m o n stra tio n w ith the display in te n s ity
increased s lig h tly .
5.
D uring single-sweep ope ra tio n , the LO C A TE push
b u tto n can be used to locate the trace or display w h ile the
sweep is held o ff. Pressing the LO C A TE b u tto n unblanks
the CRT and allows the display to be positioned before
storing.
Integrated Fast-Rise Waveforms
The IN T E G R A T E p u sh b u tto n , w hen used in co n ju n c tio n
w ith th e IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l, perm its storage o f relatively
fast-rising and fa st-fa llin g p o rtio n s o f a w aveform . This
m ethod may also be used fo r producing a high-resolution
display o f a lo w -jitte r re p e titive w aveform .
1.
Set up a display o f the PROBE C A L 0.6 V 1 kH z
w aveform in the manner described in "N o rm a l Sweep
D is p la y ".
2. T u rn the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l fu lly co unterclockw ise.
3.
Press in both STORE b u ttons. The norm al storage
mode background lig h t level w ill be present on the storage
screens.
4.
Advance the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l s lo w ly in the c lo c k
wise d ire c tio n to produce a waveform display o f norm al
in te n s ity , then re tu rn the c o n tro l to the m in im u m (co u n te r
clockwise) p o sitio n . A stored w aveform o f moderate b rig h t
ness should remain. However, it should be noted the rising
and fa llin g p o rtio n s o f the waveform do n o t store.
5. S im ultaneously press both ERASE b u tto n s to clear
the C R T screen.
6. Press the IN T E G R A T E b u tto n and hold it in.
7.
Advance the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l u n til the vertical
p o rtio n s o f the trace are ju st barely visible.
8.
H old the IN T E G R A T E b u tto n fo r a fe w seconds,
then tu rn the IN T E N S IT Y c o n tro l to m in im u m w h ile the
IN T E G R A T E b u tto n is still pressed.
9.
Release the IN T E G R A T E b u tto n . Both the h o rizo n ta l
and vertical segments o f the display should now be stored.
