7.  Maintenance and Cleaning 

7.4  Preventive Maintenance Plan 

7.4.1 Daily 

• 

Perform Rinse Night with distilled water. 

7.4.2 Weekly 

• 

Perform Rinse Night with distilled water. 

• 

Check the liquid filter(s) in wash bottle(s) for particles and rinse liquid filter(s) 
with water. 

7.4.3 

Every Six Months 

• 

Clean the plate support guide bar with 70% ethanol. 

• 

Check the centering mechanism of the plate carrier and clean if necessary 
with 70 % ethanol. 

• 

Clean the Manifold aspirating and dispensing needles using the cleaning kit 
supplied with the instrument. 

7.4.4 

Yearly (Service Engineer Required) 

• 

Save the customers specific programs using the Winwash software. 

• 

Disinfect the instrument. (See 7.6  Instrument Disinfection) 

• 

Replace all aspirating and dispensing tubings. 

• 

Replace the liquid filter(s) in the wash bottle(s). 

• 

Replace the manifold sealing and clean the inner parts of the manifold. 

• 

Check the aspirating pump and replace if necessary. 

• 

Recalibrate the dispensing pump.  
(See Columbus Technical Manual - chapter 3)  

When using the reader, use the Windows based 

QC-Col

 

Software

 to check 

quality control test dispensing and aspirating accuracy.  

• 

Download the specific saved programs to the washer.
