7. RECORDING OPERATIONS
You can record data to the internal hard disk drive (HDD) and/or to the network drive by using
the keys on the front panel.
If You Record Extreme Numbers of Files.
If you record extreme numbers of the files, the DS will takes a time to enter to the READY mode
after processing the system boot up, the disk exchange, and the file delete.
7.1 Check Recording File Name and Record Mode
You can confirm a specified recording file name and a specified record mode.
How to Set File Name
You can set or change a unique file name by using the browser running on the PC connected to
the DS via network.
If no unique file name is specified, the default file name (DEFAULT_0001) will be assigned and
used.
You can use a long file name by using the browser, however you can see it the last part of file
name due to the limitation of its display size.
The maximum size which can be specified is 78 bytes , 78 characters.

Confirm that the system is in ready state (<READY> display).
(If the system is not in ready state, press the STOP key a few times depending on the hierarchy
of the current menu to move to ready state.)
The system displays the remaining recording capacity of the hard disk drive in GB unit.
(<Free=145G> in above example). It will be reduced in the progress of the recordings.
Displayed Capacity
The displayed capacity in GB unit is an “approximate” number by converting 1 GB for 1024 x 1024
x 1024. Therefore, the displayed <145GB> is calculated as 155,692,564,480 bytes.

Press the left key to display the current settings for 3 seconds.
You can check the file name, the current date and time of the system, the recording mode, and
the IP address.

After 3 seconds, the system returns to the ready state.
The operation to display the current setting is effecting while the system is in recording state.
