cies centered around 200Hz. While apparent, the Aural
Enhancer is gentle compared to the extreme effects you
can create with the basic tone controls.
Your ears are the best judge when it comes to controls
that affect the tone of your instrument. Play a note, a
repeated lick, or a harmonic, and turn the Aural Enhancer
to various settings and hear the effect for yourself!
D . BASS— Adjusts low-frequency signal response ±15dB
centered around 80Hz.
E . TREBLE—
Adjusts high-frequency signal response ±15dB
centered around 2kHz.
F . EQUALIZER FOOTSWITCH— Plug in the (included)
footswitch to enable remote selection of EQ 1 or EQ 2
(EQ 1 + EQ 2 is not available from the footswitch). The Eq
Selection LED {G} is ON when EQ 2 is selected.
G . EQUALIZER SELECT—
You can switch between two inde-
pendent 3-band equalizers (Eq 1 or Eq 2), or use both
together as one 6-band equalizer (Eq1 + Eq2). NOTE: The
Equalizer Select switch on the front panel is disabled
when the Eq Footswitch {F} is plugged in.
H . SEMI-PARAMETRIC EQUALIZERS— First use
EqualizerSelect {G} to choose the Eq set that
you want to use, then use the correspond-
ing Eq controls to make adjustments. Each
Eq control has an inner knob and outer ring:
the inner Level knob adjusts signal response (±15dB) in
the range set by the outer Frequency ring. NOTE: Any Eq
control with Level set to “0” will have no effect on your
signal.
TIP:
If you need to “cut through” the band, try boost-
ing response in the 200–400Hz range. If you like a more
transparent or “scooped” sound, try cutting in the 800Hz
range.
I . CROSSOVER FREQUENCY— (Bi-amplifier control) Sets
the frequency at which your signal is split into high
and low components. This only affects the rear panel
"X OVER OUT" {AA} jacks.
J . BALANCE—
(Bi-amplifier control) Sets the relative levels
of the low and high signals output from the correspond-
ing "X OVER OUT" {AA} jacks.
K . LIMITER—
Sets the signal level threshold at which the
Limiter circuit becomes active. Rotate clockwise to lower
the activation threshold or fully counter-clockwise to
remove the Limiter from the signal path completely. The
Limiter circuit prevents signal level "spikes" from exceed-
ing the set threshold. This moderating effect allows you
to continuously operate closer to maximum loudness
output without fear of overdriving the power amplifiers
or speakers.

Any loss of loudness caused by extreme limiting can be
overcome by increasing Master Volume {M/N}.
LIMITER ACTIVE LED— Indicates exactly when the
Limiter circuit is working. If the Limiter does not activate
(even at max), increase the Gain {B} setting.
L . EFFECTS BLEND—
Controls your effects level, or more
precisely, the ratio of direct signal (dry) mixed with
effects loop signal (wet). Effects Blend is enabled only
when a plug is inserted into any of the Effects Loop {Y}
return jacks.
M/N. MASTER VOLUMES— Adjusts the output of the power
amps separately (stereo), or as one (mono), according to
the Stereo/Mono mode selector {T} on the rear panel.
• StereoMode —the center knob {M} is left master and the
outer ring knob {N} is the right master volume.
• BridgeMode —the center knob {M} is the master volume
(outer ring {N} knob is disabled).
O . POWER AMP CLIP LED— Indicates when the power
amps are being overdriven. Excessive power amp clip-
ping can damage your amplifier and speakers. Increase
the Limiter {K} level or reduce the Master Volume {M/N} if
you see more than a flicker from this LED.
P . POWER LED—
Indicates when the SM-900 is ON.
Front Panel
