Functions of Needle Parts
1) The standards of needle hole and needle
groove are different according to needle
types and size.
Front needle groove: Protects the thread
from being broken due to the heat
generated during embroidery.
Rear needle groove: Adjusts the hook
timing to be faster or slower in accordance
with the needle movement, and prevents
thread skip.
Among other functions, the anti-thread skip
function is more important. Make sure to locate
the hook point to be nearest to the needle as
much as possible for accurate thread placement.
2) Depending on situations, the function of the
rear needle groove shall be considered. When
the embroidery condition is unstable (thread
skip, thread break), install the needle with its
direction slightly turned to the right side as in
the figure.
The shape of loops formed as a result of needle movement varies depending on the
characteristics of thread or embroidery fabric. When the loop shapes are unstable, thread
skip might occur frequently. The figures below show different shapes of loop when
different types of thread are used.
