8.6.4) Relations Between Needle and Hook
1) Adjustment of Needle and Hook Timing
For needle and hook timing, the main shaft is set at 201°, when the machine is shipped out from the
factory. The relations between the needle and hook are as below:
Highest Point of
Hook Circumference
Upper Part of
Needle Hole
Needle Line

b. Needle and Hook Timing
1.8~2.2 mm
c. Needle and Hook Timing
0.5~1.5 mm
It can be different according to
the specifications/number of a
needle.
When setting the hook timing, the hook can move left or right
to some degree according to the clearance of the lower shaft
gear. Move the hook clockwise to remove the clearance, and
then make the setting.

2) Adjustment of Distance Between Needle and
Hook Point
①
The optimal distance between the needle and
the hook point is 0.1~0.3mm when the hook
point is the nearest to the needle.
②
Thread skipping occurs due to the
inappropriate alignment and distance among
the loop created by thread, the needle, and the
hook point. The closer the hook point is to the
needle, the hook point can be located within
the loop, enabling more stable stitching.
