XLINK 500/100 Operations & Maintenance Manual page # 108
!ACCEPT TCPIP CONNECTS = ON
!CELL LISTENING=ON
Once the station receives the message, it will send a reply. From that point on, the station is
online and available to connect. It will stay online until listening is turned off. Use LinkComm to
connect to the station and perform the appropriate operations.
Do not forget to turn off listening and TCP/IP connects before disconnecting.
To have the station only turn on listening for a limited time period, use the LISTEN command.
For example, to have the station go online for two hours send an SMS saying
!ACCEPT TCPIP CONNECTS = ON
!LISTEN 7200
Two hours is 7200 seconds.
Please note that the
Msg Interval
setting (described below) determines how often the station
checks for incoming messages. If that is set to six hours, it means that it may take up to six hours
before the station receives incoming messages.
Accept TCPIP Connects
This setting controls whether the system will
ever
open a listening socket in order to accept
incoming TCP/IP connections on port 3001. Normally, that port is used to allow LinkComm to
connect to the station remotely.
Accept TCPIP Connects
is enabled by default.
Disabling incoming TCP/IP connections increases the security of the station. This setting is new
with version 8.21.
Accept SMS
Accept SMS
controls whether the system will accept any incoming SMS. It is enabled by default.
If
Accept SMS
is disabled, the station will not accept any SMS. Disabling this setting strengthens
the security of the station.
Prior to version 8.21, there was a setting called
SMS Listening Only
which prevented the station
from opening a listening socket. That setting was replaced by
Accept SMS
and
Accept TCPIP
Connects.
Cell Msg Interval
The Cell Msg Interval setting dictates how often the station will check for incoming SMS
messages.
This setting is near identical to the
setting. Please read that section for
details on message checking.
Cell Enable
The
Cell Enable
setting may be used to completely disable the Cell modem. If disabled, the
station will never power on the modem, and no cell features will be available. This setting is the
equivalent of disconnecting the modem from the board. It may not be set remotely.
Cell Notifications Enable
This setting controls whether notifications are sent via SMS when certain events happen. Please
