Installing the Software

This chapter gives instructions on installing the Solaris operating environment and
the Netra ct server software on a Netra ct server. You will be installing software
from the Solaris operating environment CDs (Solaris 8 1/01) and the Software
Supplement for the Solaris 8 1/01 Operating Environment CD (called the Supplement CD
throughout this chapter).

Note –

The Solaris operating environment is ordered and shipped separately from

the Netra ct server.

There are several different options available for installing the Solaris operating
environment and Netra ct server software on your server:

If you have a Netra ct 800 server and you have a CD-ROM/DVD installed in or
connected to your server, you can install the software using the instructions in
“Using a CD-ROM/DVD” on page 131. You can also install the software onto a
Netra ct 400 server using these instructions, but only if you have an external CD-
ROM/DVD connected to your server; there is no internal CD-ROM/DVD
available for the Netra ct 400 server.

If you do not have a CD-ROM/DVD installed in or connected to your server,
follow the instructions in “Using JumpStart” on page 139 to install the software.
