• This vehicle lift should only be used for lifting of 

vehicles and not for other applications. The 
positioning of the lifting system must be done in a 
way that a safe working area will be obtained, 
thereby creating escape paths for emergency 
situations (leave passageways of at least 24").

• During welding onto a vehicle on the lift, take care 

of adequate earthing of the vehicle to prevent 
damage to the hydraulic cylinder, cables etc.

Manufacturers instructions to the lift 
owner/employer

The owner/employer shall:

• Ensure that lift operators are qualified and that they are trained in the safe 

use and operation of the lift using the manufacturers operating 
instructions; ALI/SM 01-1, ALI Lifting it Right safety manual; SAE J2184, 
Vehicle lift points for Service Garage Lifting; ALI/ST-90, ALI Safety Tips 
card; ANSI/ALI ALIS, Safety Requirements for installation and service of 
Automotive Lifts; ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2008, American National Standard for 
Automotive Lifts-Safety Requirements for Operation Inspection and 
Maintenance; ALI/WL Series, ALI Uniform Warning Label Decals/Placards.

• Establish procedures to periodically inspect the lift in accordance with the 

lift manufacturers instructions; ANSI/ALI ALOIM-2008, American National 
Standard for Automotive Lifts-Safety Requirements for Inspection and 
Maintenance; and the employer shall ensure that lift inspectors are 
qualified and that they are adequately trained in the inspection of the lift.
