For Your Safety
Working safely with this machine is possible only
when the operating and safety information are read
completely and the instructions contained therein are
strictly followed.
In addition, the general safety notes in the enclosed
booklet must be observed. Before using for the first
time, ask for a practical demonstration.
• Wear protective goggles, ear protection and a dust
protection mask.
• Wear protective gloves.
•For long hair, wear hair protection. Work only with closely
fittingc lothes.
•If the mains cable is damaged or cut through while
working, do not touch the cable but immediately pull the
mains plug. Never use the machine with a damaged cable.
•Connect machines that are used in the open via a residual
current device (RCD) with an actuating current of 30 mA
maximum. Do not operate the machine in rain or moisture.
• Always direct the cable to the rear away from the
machine.
• Apply the machine to the workpiece only when switched
on. Switch off the machine only after it has been lifted from
the workpiece.
•Always switch the machine off and wait until it has come
to a standstill before placing it down.
•When working with the machine, always hold it firmly with
both hands and provide for a secure stance.
•Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with
clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than
by hand.
•The machine can be used only for dry sanding.
•Do not work with materials containing asbestos.
•Do not continue to use worn, torn or clogged sanding
belts.
•Care should be taken to ensure that the operator or
foreign objects do not come into contact with the running
sanding belt.
•When grinding metal, flying sparks are produced.
•Take care that no persons are endangered.
•Due to danger of fire, no combustible materials should be
located in the vicinity (spark flight zone).
•Never allow children to use the machine.
•STAYER is only able to ensure perfect operation of the
machine if the original accessories intended for it are
used.
Intended Use
The machine is intended for dry sanding of wood, plastic,
metal, filler and coated surfaces at high removal rates.
Dust Extraction
The dust that is produced while working can be
detrimental to health, inflammable or explosive.
Suitable safety measures are required.
Examples: Some dusts are regarded as carcinogenic.
Use suitable dust/chip extraction and wear a dust
respirator.
Dust from light alloys can burn or explode. Always keep
the workplace clean, as blends of materials are particularly
dangerous.
If your tool is equipped with a dust bag, empty it
frequently and after completion of sanding.
Be particularly careful when disposing of dust, as materials
in fine particle form may be explosive.
Do not throw sanding dust on an open fire.
Spontaneous combustion may in time, result from mixture
of oil or waterw ith dust particles.
Internal Vacuuming with Dust Box Attaching the
dust box
Attach the extraction adapter onto the outlet piece setzen.
Attach the dust box onto the extraction adapter and allow
it to snap in.
External Dust Extraction (Accessory)
The machine can be plugged directly into the receptacle
of a STAYER all-purpose vacuum cleaner with remote
control starting. The vacuum cleaner starts automatically
when the machine is switched on.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the material to
be worked.
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detrimental
to health or carcinogenic , use a special vacuum cleaner.
For external dust extraction with a vacuum cleaner, an
extraction adapter must be used as required (see acces-
sories). Insert extraction adapter and vacuum connection
firmly.
Changing the Tool
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains
plug.
Swivel out the clamping lever fully. The sanding belt is
now loose and can be taken off.
Mount a new sanding belt.
Swivel the clamping lever back again to its original position.
Lift the machine from where it is lying and switch it on.
Correct the position of the belt by pressing the adjusting
knob until the edge of the sanding belt runs flush with the
backing plate.
Make sure that the sanding belt does not rub into the
housing. Check the position of the sanding belt regularly
and if necessary, correct it again using the adjusting knob.
Store sanding belts only hanging; avoid creasing, as this
makes the belts unusable!
