i. CHECKING AND TOPPING UP THE ENGINE
LUBRICATING OIL LEVEL
Proceed only with the engine turned off. Smoking and open flames are prohibited. Attention, in case of hot
lubricating oil, burn hazard. Insufficient or excessive lubricating oil causes engine damage. The oil level
must be checked only with the engine stopped and horizontal. If the engine is hot, stop the engine and
check the oil level after 5 minutes. If the engine is cold the oil level can be checked immediately. Extract the
dipstick and clean it with a clean rag, which doesn’t leave any fibres. Insert the dipstick until the stop.
Extract the dipstick and check that the oil level is between the maximum and minimum (stick (1), figure on
right, level between [3] and [2])
Refill only if the level is insufficient.
To top up, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the oil cap (5) (figure 3)
2. Add the necessary amount of oil through the cap (5). Pour the oil in very gradually.
3. Wait 3 minutes and check the oil level with the dipstick
4. Add more oil if needed
5. Refit the cap and tighten manually.
