M S 1 6 A S y r i n g e D r i v e r

d. Connect to the syringe driver a 9 V DC power supply.

Set the rate dials to read 99.

Start the syringe driver.

Load the actuator with a weight of 4.5 kg. Reduce VR5 until the

driver starts to stall.

h. Reduce the load to 4 Kg. Allow the driver to run for a minimum

of six motor pulses and then replace the 1/2 Kg weight. The

driver must stall at 4.5 Kg within 6 motor pulses. If it will not

stall, repeat step (e).

7 Volt thrust test

Reduce the power supply to 7 V DC and set the actuator 10 mm

from the end of travel.

Start the syringe driver running and allow two motor pulses.

Load the actuator with a 3 Kg load. The unit must run for six or

more motor pulses without stalling

Reset the power supply to 9 V DC.

d. Remove the driver from the Thrust rig.

4. Guard test

Temporarily short pin 20 (IC1) to + rail. Hold down the

START/TEST

pushbutton and check that the motor starts and

then stops in 5 - 10 seconds.

Remove the short from pin 20.

Flash frequency

Set rate to 00 mm/hr, start normal running and monitor the front-

panel LED flash period.

The period between flashes should be 1.029 seconds (minimum) -

1.071 seconds (maximum), i.e. 1.050 seconds ± 2%. Adjust R9 if

necessary.

Alternatively, if using a timer/ counter, the flash frequency

should be set at between 0.97143 Hz (max) and 0.93333 Hz (min).

d. The flash frequency should not change by more than 1.5% when

the supply voltage is reduced to 7 volts.
