9.2.2
Soft starting function
Operating principle
Soft starting can be parameterized for activating the channels in order to control loads with a
high inrush current. This paramaterization is performed for each POM and applies to all
channels of the POM. Soft starting means that when switched on, the channels are
controlled with a fixed number of half waves with leading-edge phasing before half-wave
mode is activated. Soft starting is performed with a fixed number of phased-in half-waves.

Note
The disturbances caused on the supply cables by the soft starting are to be filtered on the
line side.
Soft start versions
The following versions can be configured in order to adapt to the conditions of the
application:
Soft start version
Description
1
Time-optimized version of the soft start, enabling the heating elements to be
warmed up very quickly. The time required for one channel is about 100 ms.
2
Slower version of the soft start that ensures the heating element is not undu-
ly loaded. The time required for one channel is about two seconds.
3
Reserved for future version, currently corresponds to Version 2.
