Electrical installation
Only authorised personnel are allowed to perform the electrical installation work.
Do not open the housing.
Observe the current safety regulations when working on electrical systems.
Switch the entire machine/system offline!
The machine/system could inadvertently start up while you are connecting the device.
Ensure that the entire machine/system is disconnected during the electrical
installation.
5.1
Overview of the installation steps
•
Connect the supply voltage to the LMS.
•
Wire switching outputs (application-dependent).
•
Temporarily connect PC (configuration).
•
Wire data interface for operation.
5.2
Connections of the LMS
Depending on the variant, the LMS has different connections:

The LMS500 has a removable system plug. This has a M16 screw type cable entry on
the rear. The connections are made to the screw type terminal in the system plug. In
addition these variants have a round M12 plug connector for the connection to
Ethernet.
You can move the M16 cable entry and the round plug connector from the rear to the
underside of the system plug (see

The LMS511 has four multipin round M12 plug connectors. The connections are made
to the related plug or sockets.

All variants have a mini USB connector on the front of the unit for the connection to the
USB interface on a PC.
Important
•
This interface is only used for configuration and is not allowed to be permanently
connected.
•
Install the USB driver provided on the CD-ROM before connecting the device to the PC.
