3) Inspect the journal and cam for wear and damage.
Replace them if their values exceed the usage
limit.
4) Use an oil stone to repair damage to the small
steps on the cam surface.

11. Oil pump
1) Replace the oil pump cover, rotor, and vane if
they show significant wear or damage.
2) If the clearance between the rotor and vane
exceeds the usage limit, replace the rotor and
vane.

12. Thermostat
1) Replace the thermostat if it opens even just a little
at room temperature.
2) Place the thermostat in water, and inspect the
temperature at which it opens while gradually
increasing the temperature of the water.
