9. Crankshaft
1) Support the crankshaft on a stand and apply a dial
gauge to the crankshaft journal to measure
deflection. If the measurement exceeds the required
repair level, repair or replace the crankshaft.
2) Inspect the shaft diameter for damage and wear on
the journal and pin of the crankshaft. If
measurements exceed the usage limit or required
repair level, replace the crankshaft.
10. Timing gear and cam shaft assembly
1) Replace the gear if there is significant wear in the
teeth.
2) Measure the backlash in the gear. Replace the gear if
the measurement exceeds the usage limit.
