Support
Support Placement
will allow you to tell the slicing engine that you either want support
everywhere, including built up from the model itself, or only the build surface. This can be
handy when you’ve got a requirement for support only in areas that are reached from the bed
surface.
Support Overhang Angle
can be used to change the threshold value that is used for
support generation. The default is 50 degrees. If you’ve got an area that isn’t well supported at
that angle (or at all), you can lower this value in order to get support generated.
There are a lot of other parameters that configure how automatic support is generated. I
suggest that you investigate them as you learn more about your specific support requirements
in the parts you print.
Special Modes
The
Special Modes
category contains a lot of interesting parameters, including things
for creating mold shapes from an existing solid model. The one I will cover is called
Spiralize
Outer Contour
and is used for printing a solid model as a single wall. This is also known as
“vase mode” in other slicing programs. In order to use this with vase-style models, just set your
number of bottom layers to whatever you’d like, and the number of top layers to zero.
