Chapter 5: Installation

5.0 Caution!

Make sure you follow proper ESD handling procedures (refer to EIA-625,
ESD Association Handbook, or MIL-HDBK-263) when working cards
and components.

Make sure power is

OFF

before installing cards.

5.1 Configure The Adapter Cards

Any required jumper configuration should be done before the adapter cards
are installed. Refer to Chapter 3 for information about configuring the SBus
adapter card. See Chapter 4 for VMEbus adapter card configuration
information.

5.2 Installing The SBus Adapter Card

SPARCstation 10 (SS10) computers have a thin metal strip connected to
the computer's backplane. This strip must be removed from the slot in
which the SBus adapter card will be installed.

1.

Locate a vacant card slot in the SBus chassis.

2.

Remove the metal plate covering the cable exit at the rear of the chassis.

3.

Insert the SBus adapter card into the connector.
