Common Problems And Solutions 75

The VMEbus can also be locked out by a single device that has bus
mastership and will not release it. In this case, reconfigure the bus master
to use the bus fairly.

An access is attempted while the VMEbus chassis is off or the cable is
disconnected.

A VMEbus slave device response was longer than the bus timeout
interval.

An access is made to the Dual Port RAM window when no Dual Port
RAM is installed.

If you can read and write data correctly from each side, but cannot see the data
the other side wrote, there may be a problem with memory alignment. The
base address of the Dual Port RAM window should start on a multiple of the
window size. Thus, for a 128K byte Dual Port RAM, the base address should
be a multiple of 128K.
