Adapter Functions 13

1.10 Address Biasing

When a SBus processor directly addresses VMEbus memory, it uses an
address in the 16M byte RAM window defined within the SBus adapter card's
slot space. This address may be convenient for the SBus adapter card, but
might not be the same as the absolute VMEbus address the SPARCstation
wants to use. The

Address Bias

jumpers on the VMEbus adapter card permit

offsetting a SBus address into a different VMEbus address.

Biasing applies only to VMEbus RAM access from the SBus. It does not
apply to Dual Port RAM access.

Bias

settings are ignored when the adapter is

in Page Mode. The Page Register applies to both Dual Port RAM and
VMEbus RAM accesses.
