Taking out of service
11.1 Temporary shutdown
If the heating and hot water supply will not be needed for a long period, the ROTEX E-SolarUnit can be temporarily shut down.
However, ROTEX recommends to set the ROTEX ESU to standby mode (see Chapter 6.1, page 32) and to sign off heating-, and
warm water supply. The heating system is then protected from frost. The pumps and valve protection functions are active.
If a continued supply of power is not guaranteed when there is a danger of frost, the ROTEX ESU must be drained.
Draining the storage tank
• Switch off the main switch and secure against restarting.
• Connect the hose and hose connection from the accessories set to the rear of the solar panel (only this particular hose will
open the foot valve automatically). If a Solaris system is connected, use the KFE cock on the rear of the Solaris.
• Drain the tank's water content.
Draining the heating circuit and domestic water heat exchangers
• Switch off the main switch and secure against restarting.
• Disconnect the heating flow and return flow, as well as the cold water inflow and the hot water outflow.
• Connect the drain hoses so that the hose opening is located just above the floor of the exchanger.
• Drain the heat exchanger using the siphoning technique.
11.2 Final shutdown and disposal
For final shutdown of the ROTEX ESU, it must be
• taken out of service (see Chapter 11.1),
• disconnected from all electrical and water connections,
• disposed off in a professional manner.
Recommendations for disposal
The ROTEX ESU has an environmentally friendly design. During the disposal process, the only waste accrued is that which can
be used for material or thermal recycling. The materials that are suitable for recycling can be separated so that they are unmixed.
CAUTION!
Frost may cause material damage.
A deactivated heating system can freeze due to frost and consequently be damaged.
• Drain the heating system that is shut down if there is danger of frost.
• If there is a danger of frost and your heating system has not been drained, ensure that power is still supplied
to it and leave the main switch switched on.
If there is a danger of frost and the power supply cannot be guaranteed for just a few days, the unit's excellent
heat insulation means that the ROTEX ESU does not have to be drained, provided that the storage tank
temperature is monitored regularly and does not fall below +3 °C.
However, using this method means that the connected heat distribution system is not protected from frost.
Thanks to the environmentally friendly design of the ROTEX ESU, ROTEX has complied with requirements for
environmentally sound disposal. Proper disposal in compliance with the respective national regulations of the
country of use is the responsibility of the user/owner.
