and secure it with the nut 21.19. Drill a 2.6 mm Ø hole in
the command stand and fit the sleeve 21.20 in it; position
the sleeve flush on the inside. Fit the ship’s wheel through
the sleeve, fit the second sleeve 21.20 on the screw and
glue it in the corner joint between roof and back panel to
support the shaft. Fit the grubscrew 21.22 in the collet and
slip it onto the screw. Set the correct amount of play and
tighten the grubscrew in the collet - Fig. 217.
-
Place the superstructure units on the deck and cut the
slots through which the sheets pass.
-
All the superstructure units should be a reasonably tight fit
on their coamings. To provide adjustment of the fits in the
fore-and-aft and lateral directions the spacer strips 21.23
should be glued vertically in the centre of each surface;
they can then be sanded back to obtain the correct sliding
fit - Fig. 218.
21
-
Glue the side panels 21.2 - 21.4 to the moulded command
stand housing 21.1 - Fig. 213.
-
Attach the remaining wall panels 21.5 - 21.9 and the cor-
ner pieces 21.10 to the housing as shown. Sand back the
top corner pieces 21.11 flush with the walls - Fig. 214.
-
Cut the six strips which form the bench padding 21.12 to a
taper as shown and glue them in place.
-
Note that the central strip of those which form the centre
padding 21.13 should be fitted on edge. Trim the width to
fit the gap between the strips 21.12 - Fig. 215.
-
Glue the edging strips 21.14 in place. Sand back the five
strips which form the roof cladding 21.15 flush with the
walls - Fig. 216.
-
Assemble the hatch 21.16, sand it smooth and glue it in
place.
-
Drill a 2 mm Ø hole through the ship’s wheel 21.17.
Shorten the screw 21.18, fit the screw through the wheel

-
Glue the stop-strip 22.1 to the bottom edge of the receiver
support 22.2.
-
Fix the receiver 22.3 to the support using the rubber band
22.4.
-
Glue this assembly in the hull in the position shown in Fig.
219.
-
Tape the end of the wire aerial (attached to the receiver) to
the tip of the spruce aerial rail 22.5. Tape the wire to the rail
a further 20 cm along the rail.
-
Slide the aerial rail along the right-hand side of the hull
towards the bow, taping the aerial to it at intervals of 20
cm.
-
Slide the rail as far forward as possible and push it up and
under the deck. The rail will jam in the correct position -
see plan 2.
-
Screw the switch 22.6 to the switch support 22.7. Press
the charge socket lead into the slot.
-
Connect one of the short cables attached to the switch to
the receiver.
-
Glue the switch assembly in the hull in the position shown
- Fig. 220.
-
Install the battery 22.8 - see also Fig. 54.
-
In this application the speed controller 22.9 is not opera-
ted in BEC mode. For this reason the red wire in the recei-
ver cable should be withdrawn from the plug and the
contact insulated. Remove the two spade connectors and
replace them with the AMP sockets 22.10; don’t fit the
insulator at this stage.
-
Connect the speed controller to the system and fit it under
the rubber band 22.4 which also supports the receiver -
Fig. 220.
-
Connect the remaining RC components. You will need to
use the extension lead 22.11 to connect the foresail winch
- Fig. 221.
-
Check that the power system rotates in the correct direc-
tion. If the propeller spins in the wrong direction, swap
over the sockets 22.10. Fit the insulator over the pins
when you are satisfied.
