• Never cover the charger. Keep the charger away from combustible or highly flammable materials (e.g.
curtains).
•
Do not use the charger inside a vehicle.
•
Keep the charger out of the reach of children. Children could short-circuit the rechargeable battery, which
may cause a fire or an explosion. Danger to life!
• Do not use in the immediate vicinity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields, transmitter aerials or
HF generators. These can affect the charger's electric control system.
•
Never recharge the drive battery with the charger unattended.
•
Only ever charge one drive battery with the charger.
•
The drive battery must be fully disconnected from the vehicle before the drive battery is connected to the
charger and the charging process started.
•
Remove the drive battery for charging from the vehicle.
•
When you work with the charger or rechargeable batteries, never wear metallic or strongly conductive
materials, such as jewellery (necklaces, bracelets, rings or similar objects). A short circuit may cause a
fire or explosion.
•
Never use the charger immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm one. The
resulting condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage under certain circumstances!
Let the charger reach room temperature before connecting and using it. This may take several hours!
c) Operation
• Only use the 7-cell NiMH drive battery (nominal voltage 8.4 V) supplied with the vehicle or an identical
replacement drive battery. Never operate the vehicle using a power adaptor, not even for test purposes.
• When putting the device into operation always turn on the transmitter first. Only then can the drive battery
be connected to the vehicle and the vehicle switched on. Otherwise, the vehicle can react unpredictably.
Proceed as follows:
- Place the vehicle on a suitable support before connecting the drive battery so that the wheels can
turn freely.
- Switch the vehicle off.
- Switch on the transmitter, if you haven’t done it yet already. Check that it functions correctly (e.g.
transmitter operating display).
- Connect a fully charged drive battery to the vehicle ensuring that the polarity is correct (red cable =
po, black cable = negative/-).
- Only now turn on the vehicle.
- Check that the vehicle reacts to the remote control commands as expected (steering and drive) before
removing it from the support and placing the wheels on the ground.
- If the drive does not perform as expected, follow the instructions in chapter 10.
