16. Safe travel on ramp
• If you laterally travel or change direction on ramp, it can cause
danger of
F
orklift turning over. It is forbidden to have operation of
this kind.
•
Avoid steering on ramp until the forklift reaches flat ground.
When operating on mountain top, banks or ramps, please slow
down and steer with a small angle.
•
Only if it is possible, go only up or down the ramp to avoid travel
in a small alley or on a sidewalk.
•
Select proper gear before going downhill, do not shift gears during
the process.
•
When traveling on ramp, because the center of gravity of the
F
orklift will move to front wheels or rear wheels, please operate
discreetly and never brake sharply.
•
When -traveling on hillside, banks or ramps, try best to travel slowly
and use power brake, and use emergency brake if needed.
I Attention I
When reaching the ramp with full load:
1. use gear I.
2.
go forward when going up the ramp, otherwise go backward.
3.
do not steer on the ramp.
• The brake during going downhill shall be operated without cutting
off the power. Do not operate the speed-changing lever or make the
transmission in neutral gear. If the forklift speed is beyond the
speed
41
of the gear, please step on the brake pad el to slow down.
• When the forklift is traveling on the ramp, if the engine flames
out, you must immediately and fully step on the brake pedal
then operate the stop brake to stop the forklift.
• If the engine flames out on the ramp (grade < 20 % >. please
immediately step on the brake pedal and use the stop brake. Put the
speed-changing lever in neutral gear and restart
the
engine.
17.Traction
If you use a wrong way to tract a
F
orklift which can not move, or
choose improper steel wire, it may cause injury or even death. Please
comply with the following notes:
• The operation should be according to the traction instruction in this
Operation & Maintenance Manual. Other improper way of traction
may cause danger.
• Both of the tracking machine and the forklift being tracked should
be installed with ROPS device.
•
Choose proper steel wire without cut strands, any twist or
shrunk diameter. Also, wear leather gloves when dealing with the
wires.
•
When doing the preparation of the traction with other workers,
please confirm the signal before the operation.
•
It is very dangerous to tract a machine on the ramp. Please choose a
relatively flat place.
•
If the forklift which is in problem needs to be tracked by another
F
orklift, please make sure the steel wires are strong enough to
bear the stopped
F
orklift. When linking the
F
orklift which needs to
be tracked, it is
