Maintenance of battery
The electrolyte of battery contains sulfate which generates
hydrogen. Any wrong handling of the battery could cause severe injury
or fire. Please do comply with the following precautions:
• Never smoke a cigarette or expose open fire close to battery.
•
If the work requires you to touch the battery, please wear safety
glasses and rubber gloves_
•
If the acid of the battery spills on the clothes or body, please
immediately wash it with large amount of clean water.
• If the electrolyte of battery spills into eyes it could cause blindness. If
this happens, please immediately wash with large amount of water
then go for a doctor right away.
•
If you accidentally drink the acid, go to doctor or emergency center
right away for help.
• Shut down the engine before doing work that is related to battery.
• Please avoid the touch from metal material (like tools), which will cause
the short circuit between the positive terminal ( +) and negative
terminal(-).
• When installing battery, please link the positive te) first. When
disassembling the battery, please cut the negative terminal (-) first
(ground wire).
•
When disassembling or installing the battery, please check first which
one is positive te) and which one is negative terminal(-) and
tighten the nut. If the electrolyte of the battery is near the bottom level,
please add the distilled water but do not exceed the top level.
•
When cleaning the top surface of the battery, use cloth to wipe it.
Never use the gasoline, dissolvent or any other organic dissolvent or
detergent.
79
• Tighten the battery cap.
• If the electrolyte of the battery has frozen, neither charge the battery
nor use other power to start the engine which will be very dangerous
to cause battery fire. When charging the battery or using other power
to start the engine, melting the battery electrolyte before startup
and check if any leakage.
•
Disassemble the battery from the
F
orklift before you charge it.
• When repairing electric system or doing welding on the
F
orklift,
please disassemble the negative electrode (-) to avoid current flow.
Battery charge
When charging the battery, any incorrect way of handling will bring
danger of battery explosion. So please operate by complying with
relative regulations and charging-related procedure in instructions
and pay attention to the following precautions:
I
Attention
I
1. Doing the battery charge in well ventilated place and take off the
battery cap to make the hydrogen spread and avoid explosion.
2. Set the charger voltage to match the battery voltage. If the
voltage setting is wrong, it will make the charger overheated and bring
fire and explosion.
3.
Link the po) clip of charger to positive te) of battery,
then link the negative(-) clip to negative terminal (-) of battery. Make
sure the both terminals are fastened.
4. If the battery charing rate is lower than 1/10, please proceed the
high-speed charge and set the value lower than battery rated
volume. If the charging current is outsize, it may cause the
electrolyte leakage or evaporation which will bring fire or
explosion.
