9. Maintenance
The PROTECTO safety cabinet is regarded as a safety system. According to Section
4 (3) of the German Workplace Regulations (ArbStättV), Section 10 of the Industrial
Safety Regulations and BGR 234 (Rules of the Employers’ Liability Insurance
Association), a safety audit must be carried out at least once a year by an authorised
expert.
The PROTECTO safety cabinet should be inspected for visible damage or defects after
installation and prior to commissioning as well as subsequently at the intervals specified
below and following any modifications or repairs.
9.1. Daily inspection

Any leaked liquids should be immediately collected and properly disposed of.

Check your PROTECTO safety cabinet regularly for mechanical damage,
fouling and corrosion.
9.2. Monthly inspection
The monthly inspection comprises the following:
9.2.1. Door closer: Open the door and check that it closes correctly.
9.2.2. Ventilation: Check that the ventilation system is working correctly using a
wool thread, measuring instrument, etc.
9.2.3. Sealing strips: Make sure the sealing strips are correctly seated in the door
rebate and front face(s). Replace the sealing strips immediately in case of
visible damage.
9.3. Inspection by our maintenance service
The inspection of the safety cabinets is laid down in DIN EN 14470, Part 1. Yearly
maintenance inspections are the norm.
