●
Limit use at first to play or
feeding time and increase
wear time over a few days.
●
Give your cat a small treat
for wearing the collar
without a fuss.
●
If needed, try a figure 8
cat harness.
3.
Open and close the food
bowl door manually a few
times to get your pet used
to the sound and movement
(see Part 1, Step 1).
4.
Allow time for this process,
with plenty of attaboys and
attagirls for your furry best
friend. Some pets may need
a day or two to get used to
the PortionPro Rx before
they will eat from it.
5.
At feeding time, place a
small amount of food in
your pet’s current bowl
near the PortionPro Rx.
When your assigned pet
comes within about 2 feet
of the feeder, the collar tag
will trigger the PortionPro
Rx bowl door to open.
6.
Encourage your pet to finish
its meal from the PortionPro
Rx food bowl. Let him or her
sniff and explore when the
food bowl door opens. Try
topping the food in the feeder
bowl with a treat or bit of wet
food. Stay calm and positive!
7.
Most pets will quickly connect
the bowl door movement
with a meal. For a very timid
pet, see the suggestions
on the next page.
8.
Keep unassigned pets away
from the PortionPro Rx during
acclimation if possible to avoid
triggering extra bowl door
closings, which may
confuse the assigned pet.
9.
Once your assigned pet dines
eagerly from the PortionPro
Rx, remove the old food bowl.
10.
Enjoy accurate, chaos-free
feeding!
Tips to Help Your Cat Adapt
to a Collar
●
Find a collar that’s not
too tight and includes
a breakaway feature for
safety (no dog collars!).
●
Let your cat check out the
collar first, and then attach it
gently when the cat is calm.
