• To add a new word to your personal dictionary, tap .
• To edit a word that's already in your personal dictionary, tap the word.

Change Keyboard, input, or typing
settings

You can personalize your typing experience by changing the BlackBerry Keyboard, input, or typing

settings on your BlackBerry device.
1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2. Tap Settings > Language and Input.

Troubleshooting: Keyboard and typing

I can't show the Keyboard

If your BlackBerry device is connected to another input device such as a Bluetooth enabled keyboard

then you might not be able to show the BlackBerry Keyboard.
To show the Keyboard, disconnect the other input device and try again.

Battery and power

Turn off your device

Press and hold the

Power/Lock key on the top of your BlackBerry device.

Put your device in standby mode

When you put your BlackBerry device in standby mode, the device screen backlight turns off and the

screen locks. Wireless connections and clock alarms aren't affected.

Press the

Power/Lock key on the top of your device.

To wake up your device, swipe up from the bottom of the device screen.

Restart or reset your device

If your BlackBerry device is running slower than usual or not responding, turning off and turning back on

your device might help to solve the problem.

Do one of the following:

• To restart your device, press and hold the Power/Lock key on the top of your device. Tap .
• To reset your device, press and hold the

Power/Lock key for ten seconds.
