12. Recording a DAISY title

PLEXTALK is able to record DAISY titles to an SD card or USB device. This chapter
shows you the recording method and recording settings.

Note: PLEXTALK is also able to record Voice Bookmarks and Voice Memos to internal
memory. Refer to section 6.16 "Using bookmarks" and section 15 "Using PLEXTALK's
Voice Memo functions" for details of Voice Bookmarks and Voice Memos.

12.1. Basic information about recording with PLEXTALK

Before you start recording with PLEXTALK, you should be clear about several important
points as detailed below.

•

PLEXTALK always records in the DAISY format.

•

Recorded DAISY titles are stored in the "PlexRecording" folder of SD card or USB

device.

•

While you are recording, PLEXTALK automatically insert phrase information in the

recording, which can help you move easily to important portions of the material.

12.2. Recording hardware

Your PLEXTALK is supplied with the basic accessories that you require to make an initial

voice recording. You may, however, wish to consider purchasing additional accessories to
enhance the quality of your recordings and to enable you to record from external sources
such as tape recorders, CD players, radios and other similar devices. The basic items that

you require, or may wish to consider purchasing, are as follows:

•

SD card or USB device: You can record to and edit information on an SD card or

USB device.

•

External Microphone (Optional): Dynamic microphones and plug-in power stereo

microphones can be used. Select any suitable microphone that uses a 3.5 millimeter
diameter mini jack plug.

CAUTION: When a condenser microphone is used, it must be plug-in power compatible
and must be used correctly, otherwise it may be damaged. Please read the microphone
manual carefully before use.
