Turn off the power and remove the power adaptor. 

•

Remove the battery cover, as described in the previous section, and lay the 

PLEXTALK and battery cover to one side. 

•

Locate the new battery and orientate it so that the one edge, which is completely 

smooth, is facing away from you and the edge, which has 2 obvious projections on it, 

is facing to your right. These two projections are the battery terminals. 

•

Assuming that you have done this correctly, there should be 2 further projections, 

one either side of the bottom left corner. Note these as these are useful when trying 

to remove the battery later. 

•

Pick up the PLEXTALK, ensuring that the front face is downwards and the battery 

housing is towards you. 

•

Carefully insert the battery, keeping the two battery terminals on the leading edge. 

This should mean that you are introducing the battery from left to right across the 
battery housing. 

•

Push the battery terminals gently into place and then press down gently on the left 

side of the battery and it should slip easily into the housing. Do not use force to insert 
the battery as this should not be necessary. 

•

Place the battery cover over the battery housing, around 5 millimeters from its 

normal position. While pressing the battery cover towards the battery housing, gently 
slide the battery cover back up towards the top of the unit until the rectangular button 

pops up into the locked position. 

 
WARNING:  You should only use the recommended battery with this unit. Failure to do so 

may cause an explosion or fire. 
Note:  To remove an old battery, gently lift the bottom left corner of the battery using a 
fingernail under one of the 2 projections that are on the bottom left corner and then lift it 

carefully out of the housing. This takes a bit of practice but is simple once you understand 
the technique. 
 

2.5. Charging PLEXTALK 

 
In order to charge the internal battery, you need to connect the PLEXTALK to the AC 

adaptor or to a computer using the supplied USB cable. Do this as follows: 
 

•

Place the PLEXTALK face up in its normal operating position. 

•

To charge the battery using the AC adaptor, plug the supplied AC adaptor into the 

power input terminal on the bottom left edge of the unit. Then plug the power adaptor 
into the AC wall socket. Charging will start. 

 

•

To charge the battery using the USB connection, turn the power off.
