USB playback
Using the USB interface
It is p ossible to listen to two-channel audio

and watch JPEG files using the USB inte r face
on the f r ont of this unit. Connect a USB mass
sto r age device

as shown below.
1 With the player switched on, press USB.
Make su r e you r TV is on and set to the co rr ect
video in p ut.
2 Connect your USB device.
The USB te r minal is located on the f r ont p anel.
3 Press

(play) to start playback.
If you r USB device contains JPEGs, a
slideshow will sta r t. See Playing a JPEG
slideshow on p age 27 fo r mo r e on this.
• Make su r e
USB DATA
is showing in the
f r ont p anel dis p lay (o r the system is in
standby) when disconnecting.
Important
If a USB ERR message lights in the dis p lay, it
may mean that the p owe r r equi r ements of the
USB device a r e too high fo r this p laye r , o r that
the device is incom p atible. T r y the following:
• Switch the p laye r off, then on again.
• Reconnecting the USB device with the
p laye r switched off.
• Selecting to anothe r in p ut sou r ce (like
DVD/CD ), then back to USB .
• Using a dedicated AC ada p te r (su pp lied
with the device) fo r USB p owe r .
If this doesn’t r emedy the pr oblem, it is likely
you r USB device is incom p atible.
Basic playback controls
The following table shows the basic cont r ols on
the r emote fo r USB p layback.

1 This includes p layback of WMA/MP3/MPEG-4 AAC files (exce p t files with co p y- pr otection o r r est r icted p layback).
2 • Com p atible USB devices include exte r nal magnetic ha r d d r ives, p o r table flash memo r y ( p a r ticula r ly keyd r ives) and digital
audio p laye r s (MP3 p laye r s) of fo r mat FAT16/32. It is not p ossible to connect this unit to a p e r sonal com p ute r fo r USB p layback.
• Pionee r cannot gua r antee com p atibility (o p e r ation and/o r bus p owe r ) with all USB mass sto r age devices and assumes no
r es p onsibility fo r any loss of data that may occu r when connected to this unit.
• With la r ge amounts of data, it may take longe r fo r the system to r ead the contents of a USB device.
