Disc playback features
Important
• Many of the functions cove r ed in this
cha p te r a pp ly to DVD discs, Video CDs/
Su p e r VCDs, CDs, DivX video/WMV and
WMA/MP3/MPEG-4 AAC/JPEG discs,
although the exact o
p e r ation of some
va r ies slightly with the kind of disc loaded.
• Some DVDs r est r ict the use of some
functions ( r andom o r r e p eat, fo r exam p le)
in some o r all p a r ts of the disc. This is not a
malfunction.
• When p laying Video CD/Su p e r VCDs, some
of the functions a r e not available du r ing
PBC p layback. If you want to use them,
sta r t the disc p laying using a numbe r
button to select a t r ack.
Scanning discs
You can fast-scan discs fo r wa r d o r backwa r d at
va r ious diffe r ent s p eeds.

Playing in slow motion
You can p lay DVDs, Video CD/Su p e r VCDs and
DivX video/WMV at fou r diffe r ent fo r wa r d slow
motion s p eeds. DVD discs can also be p layed
in r eve r se slow motion.

Frame advance/frame reverse
You can advance o r back u p DVD discs f r ame-
by-f r ame. With Video CD/Su p e r VCDs and DivX
video/WMV you can only use f r ame advance.

Playing a JPEG slideshow
Afte r loading a disc containing JPEG p ictu r es,
pr ess

to sta r t a slideshow f r om the fi r st
folde r / p ictu r e on the disc.

The p laye r dis p lays
the p ictu r es in each folde r in al p habetical
o r de r .
• If the disc contains WMA/MP3/MPEG-4
AAC files, p layback of the slideshow and
audio files r e p eats. Du r ing audio p layback,
you can still use the ski p (

), scan

) and p ause (

) functions.
Pictu r es a r e automatically adjusted so that
they fill as much of the sc r een as p ossible.
Note
1 Only one s p eed is available fo r DivX video/WMV discs.
2 • De p ending on the disc, no r mal p layback may automatically r esume when a new cha p te r is r eached on a DVD disc.
• Fo r Video CDs/Su p e r VCDs in PBC mode and WMA/MP3/MPEG-4 AAC t r acks (in Scan mode only), no r mal p layback r esumes
when you r each the beginning o r the end of t r ack.
3 • The time it takes fo r the p laye r to load a file inc r eases with la r ge file sizes.
• Discs can contain u p to 299 folde r s and u p to 648 folde r s and files combined.
