6 Hardware Interface
Common Grounds with Star Wiring
Ground loops can be avoided using "star wiring", i.e. the wiring of power and ground
connections originate from one "star point" which is typically a power supply. Fig. 6.14 shows
a schematic of the star-wiring concept.
Fig. 6.15 shows a schematic of the star-wiring concept applied to a Photonfocus GigE
camera.The power supply and ground connections for the camera and for the I/O are
connected to the same power supply which acts as the "Star Point".
