Joining the Wireless Network
For the device to join an existing WirelessHART network it needs to carry the network ID
and join key of this network. Prior to joining the first time, the network ID and join key have
to be configured using a
wired connection
.
To enter network ID and join key, the following requirements have to be met.
•
A PC/Laptop is connected to the device using a HART modem.
•
A PACTware project containing the HART communication DTM and the device DTM
has been created.
In the joining phase the device sends a join request packet to the network manager. If the
new device can be authenticated, the network manager responds with an activation packet
and sets up links between the new device and other existing nodes. Furthermore, the new
sensor will receive a 128 Bit encryption key.
Entering network ID and join key
1. In the PACTware project, right-click on the DTM of the device which is to join the Wire-
lessHART network (WHA-*).
