Connecting the Battery
Connecting the battery
The adapter is delivered with the battery unit installed but not connected. It is connected as
follows.
1. If necessary, open the adapter cover by unscrewing the four captive Phillips screws (view
Figure 3.14 on page 27).
2. Plug the battery unit connecting cable into the battery power connector (view Figure 2.3
on page 13).
As soon as the battery is connected, the adapter initializes.
- The occupation of the terminals is checked.
- The type of device connected is checked.
- If a HART device is connected, its data are read into the adapter.
- The LEDs indicate the status of the device (see chapter 6.1.1).
- The adapter is now ready for commissioning.
Warning!
Caustic battery acid
Leaking battery acid can cause personal injury and damage to the device.

Never use batteries that are leaking.
•
Never use batteries with external damage such dents or deep scratches, even if no
battery acid is leaking.
Warning!
Possible damage because of wrong battery
Using the wrong type of battery may cause damage to the device. The use of batteries
other than specified in this manual also voids the IS certification.
Use lithium primary batteries from Fuchs approved for this device only.
