3.1.3 Notes on Power Supply and Wiring
Be sure to turn the AX40 off before wiring the power supply.
Use an Insulation Power Supply with a Built-in Protection Circuit
• Be sure to use an isolation power supply with a built-in protection circuit to protect the device from
abnormal voltage from the power supply lines.
• Non-insulation power supply is used for the regulator of the AX40.
• When using a power supply without a built-in protective circuit, be sure to supply power to the AX40
through protective elements such as fuses.
Turn the Power ON/OFF at the Primary Side
Turn the power ON/OFF at the primary side
(100 V AC). If you turn the power ON/OFF at
the secondary side (24 V DC), the fuses of the
MICRO-IMAGECHECKER may melt down.
Use a Power Supply with Sufficient Capacity
When the power is turned on, the current far above the rated current temporarily flow. Use the power
supply with enough capacity (approx. three times). Check the operation of the device when turning the
power on.
Increase Resistance to Noise
• Separate the systems for wiring to the AX40, input devices, and output devices.
• When there is a particular concern about noise coming from input/output circuits, it is recommended
to separately supply the power to the AX40 and to the input/output devices.
Consider the Electric Power Sequence
• Consider the electric supply sequence so that the AX40 can be turned OFF before the input/output
power is turned off.
• If you turn the input/output power off before turning the AX40 off, the device will detect a change in
the input signal level and may malfunction.
• Wait at least 10 seconds when turning the device ON again.
About Momentary Power Interruptions
• Less than 10 ms: Continues running.
• Between 10 and 40 ms: Depending on the conditions, the system may continue running, the system
may reset itself, or the camera image capture may stop.
• More than 40 ms: The system will reset itself. When power is restored, the system will begin to
operate from its initial state.
Turn the power off before wiring.
