4.3.3 Adjusting the Scan Averaging

To adjust the Scan Averaging, from the

Filters Menu

select

Scan Avg

and press

Enter

The following screen appears:

The Scan Average setting is used to change system noise rejection. By averaging

entire scans, the Signal/Noise Ratio (SNR) can be increased. This is particularly useful

in the presence of certain background gases, which can interfere with the moisture

absorption peak, or introduce background noise.

The default Scan Average value set at the factory is 128, which is an optimal tradeoff

between noise reduction and system responsiveness. Lowering this value provides

faster response time in exchange for a noisier measurement; conversely, increasing the scan average provides a

smoother measurement in exchange for slower transient response.

IMPORTANT:

Please contact a BH application engineer before modifying this setting.

Use the left and right arrow keys to select each digit to be changed. Use the up and down arrow keys to change the

value. When finished, press

Enter

. The screen returns to the User Adjustments Menu.
