4.1.6 Adjusting the Response Delay
Some Modbus masters may have limitations in their ability to receive a response immediately after transmitting the
request. This can often occur when the RS-485 protocol is used, as the Master must change from transmit to receive
operation. The Aurora H2O response can be delayed by a user-specified amount to accommodate these limitations.
To change the response time, from the Comm Port Menu select Response and press Enter .
The following screen appears.
Use the left and right arrow keys to select each digit to be changed. Use the up and
down arrow keys to change the value. When finished, press Enter . The screen returns to
the Comm Port Menu . A value of zero permits the Aurora to respond immediately. Do not
specify a response delay longer than absolutely necessary, as this limits message
throughput.
4.1.7Serial Port Test
To aid in establishing or troubleshooting problems with serial communications, the Aurora H2O can be placed in
Serial Port Test mode, using a serial terminal or terminal emulation software. Configure the terminal to the same
parameters specified for the Aurora H2O in “Setting the Baud Rate” on page 1 , “Setting the Parity” on page 2 and
“Selecting the Protocol” on page 2 .
Note: Modbus communications are not possible via the port under test.
To change the response time, from the Comm Port Menu select Test and press Enter . The
following screen appears.
Enable Test mode by selecting ON and pressing Enter . The Aurora H2O transmits
SCADA waiting or SERVICE waiting (see Figure 43 below), depending on the port being
tested.
