BGS Levels (Background Suppression)

Background suppression (BGS) changes image areas with den-
sities below the lower limit to 0, and image areas with densities
above the upper limit to 255 so that only images with densities
between the lower and upper limits are measured.

Lower limit: 150 Upper limit: 255

Reading object

Density

Background

Background density (cut)

Image areas with densities of 149 or
lower will not be read and the density
will be changed to 0.

Only image areas with densities be-
tween 150 and 255 will be read. The
whole image is graded from 0 to 255.
