ANC packets are included within the blanking and occupy either the Y stream (i.e. the part of the
Input stream used in the Active image area for luma data) or the C stream (i.e. the part of the Input
stream used in the Active image area for chroma data). The Ancillary DataViewer can therefore be
configured to just to display ANC packets detected in the Y stream or to display packets detected
in the C stream or both as required.
To display the Ancillary Data Viewer:
1. Show the Viewer window.
2. Click on the down-arrow in the Title Bar of the tile that you want to replace.
3. Select Ancillary Data Viewer from the menu that is displayed.
To set the Input from which data is shown:

Click the required Input on the Button Bar. The selected Input will become highlighted.
To display ANC Packets from the Y/C streams:
1. Click on the Ancillary Data Viewer to make it the active window.
2. Either: Highlight the required stream options on the Button Bar by
clicking on them.
Or:
Set the Y stream and C stream options offered in the right-hand
panel to On (

) or Off (
0
) as required.
Note: The ability of the Ultra to interpret an ANC packet depends on whether the appropriate
‘descriptor’ for this packet is installed. At the time of writing, XML format descriptor files are
supplied with the Ultra that allow it to interpret the following types of ANC packet:
 SMPTE 352 video standard packets

SMPTE RP 188 time code packets

SMPTE 2016 bar data packets

CEA-608 & CEA-708 closed caption and OP-47 teletext packets

EDH definition packets
 AES-EBU and HDTV audio definition packets
