Ultra v2.0a User Guide
V-5
V.3 Test Sequences
The
Ultra
supports two main classes of test sequence:
Video clips, typically held on disk as a single YUV file
Sequences made up of multiple image files, each contributing one frame of the sequence
It also supports the creation of some ‘standard’ test sequences, one conforming to EBU3305 and
others offering Omnitek’s own TSA test sequence in two versions – one for general use and the
other with some additional markers (numbers) for use in testing interleaved 4K transmissions.
V.3.1 Creating Standard Test Sequences
The standard test sequences are accessed via the
Create Sequence
option offered on the Button
Bar. The procedure used to add one of these standard test sequences is as follows:
To create an EBU3305 test pattern:
1.
Click on the
Create Sequence
option in the Button Bar at the bottom of the screen.
2.
Set the
Sequence type
to
Sys-EBU3305.
3.
Set the required duration (in seconds).
4.
Set a name for the test pattern.
5.
Click on
OK
.
To create an Omnitek TSA test pattern:
1.
Click on the
Create Sequence
option in the Button Bar at the bottom of the screen.
2.
Set the Sequence type to
Sys-OmnitekTSA
or
Sys-OmnitekTSA-4kMarkers
as required.
3.
Set the required duration (in seconds).
4.
Set a name for the test pattern.
5.
Take the
OK
option.
An encoded version of the pattern is then added to the Generator window which the
Ultra
then
proceeds to decode appropriately for the currently-selected Video Standard. The length of the
sequence is also adjusted to give the required duration (as long as there is sufficient memory for
this).
V.3.2 Importing Sequences stored on disk
Sequences held on disk either as single YUV files or as sets of image files can be added to the
Generator window using the Import Sequence option offered on the Button Bar.
The procedure for adding these sequences is as follows:
To import an image sequence held as a single file:
1.
Click on the
Import
Sequence
option in the Button Bar at the bottom of the screen.
2.
Use the file selection dialogue that is displayed to pick out the required file.
After checking the image file and saving it to flash on the
Ultra
, a thumbnail for the image is
then added to the display. The new test pattern also automatically starts being played out (see
Section V.3.3).
