A ‘tab’ for the downloaded file is also added to the display. BEWARE: Tempting though it is,
DO NOT click on the tab: only select the associated drop-down menu. Similarly, don’t take
any
Open
option either offered by the associated drop-down menu or associated with the
‘ Show all Downloads ’ option that may also have been added to the screen. The only option to take
from either the tab or the list of downloads is Show in folder (or equivalent).
The issue is that
these items are automatically added by an operating system such as Windows which, for any
downloaded file, expects to be able to find an application in which to open the file, either on your
PC or downloadable from the Web. However, the mechanisms by which it searches aren’t able to
find the Ultra . As a result, the upshot of trying to open any OAF file is just that the Tab and the
option to see a list of the Downloaded files disappear – which is a pity as their Show in folder
options offer a quick route to the Downloads directory where you can set a suitably descriptive
name for the file. (The (generally slower) alternative is to use Windows Explorer or equivalent to
navigate to the Downloads directory.)
W.4.2 Importing Saved Test Patterns/Test Pattern Sets
The steps used to add test patterns that have been saved to disk to the range of test patterns
displayed on the Generator window are given below.
It should be noted that if any of imported patterns or source files have the same title/ filename as
a pattern/source file that is currently loaded, the imported pattern will replace the existing item.
To add test patterns that have been saved to disk to the selection of available test patterns:
In the Generator window:
1. Click on the Import Stills option offered on the Button Bar.
2. When the file selector is displayed, use this to pick out the OAF
file(s) containing the pattern(s) you want to import.
Several OAF files can be imported in one operation and these
can contain more than one test pattern (see ‘Saving Patterns to
Disk’, above).
Note: OAF files that have been created on the PC from which
you control the
Ultra
can be found in the Downloads directory
on that machine.
3. The Ultra displays a message detailing the test patterns that
have been imported – or a message telling you that no test
patterns were imported if the file selected was of the wrong type
4. To close the message, click on the Close option.
