ULTRASONIC BRONCHOFIBERVIDEOSCOPE BF-UC180F
4.2
Observation of the ultrasonic image
Never inflate the balloon to a diameter of more than 20 mm
when using the endoscope in the trachea. Doing so could
result in suffocation of the patient.
If the balloon is over-inflated, sterile water will leak from the
balloon attachment groove to prevent balloon rupture or
detachment from the endoscope.
1.
Position the distal end of the endoscope beyond the target site and press
the “FREEZE” switch on the endoscopic ultrasound center or the diagnostic
ultrasound system to change the ultrasonic image to REAL-TIME mode.
2.
Turn the 3-way stopcock and inflate the balloon to the desired diameter by
pushing the syringe’s plunger. When inflation is complete, turn the 3-way
stopcock again to stop water feeding (see Figure 4.4).
Figure 4.4
3.
When the ultrasonic image of the target appears, adjust the endoscopic
ultrasound center or the diagnostic ultrasound system as described in its
instruction manual to obtain a suitable image.
4.
Use the endoscope’s angulation mechanism to bring the balloon into full
contact with the tracheal or bronchial wall. Move the distal end of the
endoscope to the target site.
Deflate the balloon and keep the endoscopic ultrasound
center in the FREEZE mode, except during ultrasonic
observation.
