Chapter 7 Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization Procedures

ULTRASONIC BRONCHOFIBERVIDEOSCOPE BF-UC180F

Equipment needed

Prepare the following equipment and wear appropriate personal protective

equipment.

Alcohol is flammable. Handle with care.



Sterile water rinse

Fill a basin with sterile water. Use a basin that is at least 40 cm by 40 cm

(16” by 16”) in size and deep enough to completely immerse the endoscope.

Immerse the endoscope and suction cleaning adapter in sterile water.

Using a sterile, lint-free cloth, thoroughly rinse and wipe all external

surfaces.

Connect the suction cleaning adapter and suction pump to the endoscope.

Turn the suction pump ON.

Aspirate sterile water for 30 seconds.

Remove the endoscope from the sterile water and aspirate air for

60 seconds.

Turn the suction pump OFF.

Immerse the distal end of the insertion section in the sterile water. Connect

the 30 cm

(30 ml) syringe to the irrigation port.

Pull the plunger and aspirate 30 cm

(30 ml) of the sterile water through the

balloon channel. Repeat this procedure 5 times.

Remove the distal end of the insertion section from the sterile water and

flush 30 cm

(30 ml) of air through the balloon channel 5 times to expel all

water.

• Large basin

• Sterile water (for sterile water rinse)

• Clean water (nonsterile water)

• Suction pump (with sterile suction tube)

• 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol

• 30 cm

(30 ml) syringe

• Suction cleaning adapter
