29.5  Starting Heartbeat

The Heartbeat packages must be installed and the configuration files set up on each node in the 
cluster. Then use the following command to start Heartbeat on each node in the cluster:

rcheartbeat start

To make sure that Heartbeat starts each time the node restarts, use the following command:

chkconfig heartbeat on

Two log files provide status information about the functioning of the Heartbeat cluster and can be 
viewed by using the following commands:

tail -f /var/log/ha-log
tail -f /var/log/ha-debug

29.6  Managing Heartbeat

Two types of programs are available for managing your Heartbeat cluster:

Command line utilities (http://www.linux-ha.org/v2/AdminTools)

Š

crm_mon

 provides an overview of the cluster

Š

crm_resource

 views, modifies, and migrates resources (such as GroupWise agents)

Š

crm_standby

 migrates all resources from a node, such as when maintenance is required

Š

cibadmin

 lets you modify the configuration information in the 

cib.xml

 file

Š

GUI HA Management Client (

/usr/lib/heartbeat/haclient.py

When you run this program, you are prompted to log in to the cluster as the

 hacluster

 user 

or you can be a member of the 

haclient

 group in order to log in. By default, the 

hacluster

 user does not have a password. You must give it one in order to run the HA 

Management Client.

29.7  Setting Up Shared Storage

After your Heartbeat cluster is installed, configured, and running smoothly, you are ready to set up 
partitions on your shared storage device for use with GroupWise. You can use the Enterprise Volume 
Management System (EVMS) to create partitions for file systems where GroupWise domains and 
post offices will be located. EVMS is an open source project that provides volume management 
services on Linux. These Web sites provide helpful information:
