GroupWise MAPI:

Uses a set of object-oriented functions that provide messaging

capabilities. The Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) is used by mail-
enabled applications to create, transfer, and store messages, as well as to handle complex
addressing information. MAPI objects are data structures that support a set of properties and
that comply with the component object model (which requires that objects support one or more
