Using the Cable Looms

To use the cable looms:

1.

Make sure that the cable looms are installed as described in “Installing 
the Passport 5430” on page 1-5.

2.

Using the guidelines above, determine which card to cable first. 

If you are cabling a port on a PCI card, begin with the Module 1 port.

3.

Insert the cable into the cable loom slot corresponding to the card 
containing the module you are cabling.

4.

Allowing some slack in the cable between the cable loom and the module 
connector, insert the cable into the module connector. 

For cabling instructions, see

” on 

page 4-7

.

5.

Remove excess cable slack by slowly pulling the cable through the cable 
loom away from the connector. 

To ease card removal, the cable should curve naturally and not drape over 
other cards and modules. Make sure that cables can be quickly reconnected to 
the appropriate connector.
