Replacing a Power Supply
To replace a power supply:
1.
Turn off the power switch on the power supply you are replacing.
For instructions, see “Turning the Passport 5430 On and Off” on page 6-9.
2.
Put on an antistatic wrist strap.
For instructions, see “Attaching the Antistatic Wrist Strap” on page 3-2.
3.
Disconnect the power cable from the power connector on the power
supply.
4.
Using a flat-tip screwdriver, loosen the captive screw that fastens the
power supply to the chassis until the power supply disengages
5.
Grasp the handle and using both hands, pull the power supply out of the
Passport 5430.
You can remove an operational power supply without affecting the operation
of the Passport 5430. When you remove a power supply, the associated LED
(PS1 or PS2) on the system processor module turns off, and the Passport 5430
automatically redistributes the load to the remaining power supply.
6.
Grasping the handle, guide the replacement power supply into the slot
along the side guides and gently insert the supply (see Figure 11-1 on
7.
Using a flat-tip screwdriver, tighten the captive screw until the power
supply is seated firmly.
Caution:
To maintain proper cooling, never operate the Passport 5430 with an
empty power supply slot. If you are replacing a failed second power
supply and you do not have a power filler panel, leave the failed power supply
installed until a replacement power supply is available.
Caution:
Electrostatic discharge can damage hardware. You must wear the
antistatic wrist strap on your arm whenever you handle printed circuit boards.
