Installing the Flash Memory Card

Nortel Networks ships the router software on a PCMCIA flash memory card 

(Figure 5-1)

. The flash memory card provides storage for the nonvolatile file 

system (NVFS) in the Passport 5430. 

Figure 5-1.

Flash Memory Card

The Passport 5430 supports one or two PCMCIA flash cards and can boot from 
either card.

Before starting the Passport 5430, install the flash memory card supplied with the 
router:

1.

Position the card with the label facing up and the INSERT arrow 
pointing toward the card receptacle.

2.

Insert the card into one of the two card receptacles 

(Figure 5-2)

 and 

gently push the card until it fits snugly into place.

Note: 

The Passport 5430 supports only 5 volt (V) flash memory cards. The 

Passport 5430 does not support BayRS 12 V flash memory cards.
