Accessing Remote Passport 4400s
This chapter provides basic instructions for using Install Tool to access remote
Passport 4400s in an IP network.

Purpose
You can use your local connection (between your workstation and a
Passport 4400) to access remote Passport 4400s in your network. This enables you
to configure and monitor remote units.
IP Address Requirements
To use Install Tool to access remote Passport 4400s:
• Your local Passport 4400 (the unit with which you are presently connected)
must be configured with appropriate IP addresses. The IP address
requirements depend upon the mode (bridging or routing) for which this
Passport 4400 is configured.
• The remote Passport 4400 must be configured with appropriate IP addresses,
such that it is accessible across the IP network.
